WELCOME TO ELVIRE VOLK DESIGN — THOUGHTFUL HOME IMPROVEMENT
By browsing this website, submitting a form, requesting a quote, approving a proposal, or instructing us to begin design or installation work, you agree to these Terms & Services. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or commission our studio. A written proposal, specification, or care-plan confirmation issued by Elvire Volk Design forms part of the contract together with these terms. Where a signed proposal conflicts with this page, the signed proposal prevails for that project only.
These terms are written for households and property stewards commissioning kitchens, bathrooms, interiors, carpentry, painting, electrical upgrades, plumbing upgrades, repairs, and related home improvement work. They also cover monthly care plans described on our Pricing page. You confirm that you have authority to instruct work in the rooms concerned, or that you will obtain that authority before we attend.
Elvire Volk Design is a home improvement studio. The website is a static presentation of our approach, projects, team, and services. Content is provided for information. Photographs, drawings, and descriptions illustrate typical workmanship and do not guarantee that your rooms will look identical, because every home has different light, structure, services, and existing finishes.
We may update pages, prices shown as examples, and project stories without notice. Example monthly figures on the Pricing page are starting points for care plans, not a binding offer until we confirm availability and scope in writing. Currency figures are illustrative studio rates and may be adjusted for material markets, access, or complexity.
Our services may include, without limitation: measured surveys of rooms; concept and detailed design; material and finish specification; joinery design; kitchen and bathroom planning; interior layout; painting and decorating; carpentry and storage; coordination of electrical and plumbing trades; tiling and finishing; snagging; aftercare advice; and scheduled maintenance visits under a care plan.
We do not provide legal, structural-engineering, or lending advice. If a project requires independent calculations, consents, or specialist reports, we will say so in the proposal. Obtaining consents remains your responsibility unless we agree in writing to assist as a paid extra. Hidden conditions behind walls, floors, or ceilings cannot be fully known until opening-up. Discoveries may change sequence, cost, or programme, and will be handled as variations under section 7.
Website forms are client-side request tools. Submitting a form is not a contract for works. It is an invitation for a studio representative to contact you about a possible brief. Quotes are based on information you provide, photographs, and, where arranged, a visit. If information is incomplete or rooms differ from descriptions, we may revise the quote.
A proposal typically sets out: rooms to be improved; design stages; assumed existing services; inclusions and exclusions; a programme outline; payment stages; and items that remain client-supplied. Verbal comments on site are not variations. Only written confirmation (including email) amends the scope.
Quotes remain open for the period stated on the proposal, or fourteen days if none is stated, after which labour and material rates may be reviewed. Sample boards, drawings, and mood references remain our intellectual property until paid for as a design package, and even then we retain the right to reuse generic methods, details, and know-how.
You agree to provide timely decisions on layouts, appliances, sanitaryware, colours, and ironmongery so the programme can be kept. Delayed choices may pause the site or incur storage and remobilisation costs. You will keep work areas reasonably empty of valuables, and will tell us about fragile finishes, shared walls, or neighbours who must be considered when noisy works occur.
You will ensure safe access for people, tools, and materials during agreed hours. Pets should be secured. Occupied homes remain welcome; we plan protection and dust control, but some disruption is inherent in home improvement. You remain responsible for utilities serving the property and for any charges associated with isolating or reinstating those utilities unless the proposal says otherwise.
If other contractors you appoint work in the same rooms, you coordinate them unless we have been paid to act as principal organiser. Damage caused by others is not our liability. You should insure the property in the usual way for occupied or unoccupied dwellings undergoing improvement.
Timber, stone, ceramic, textiles, and handmade tiles vary in grain, shade, and texture. Samples indicate character, not a pixel-perfect match. We will seek approval for visible substitutions if a specified item becomes unavailable. Minor shade differences between batches, and movement in natural materials after installation, are not defects if workmanship is sound.
Appliances, sanitaryware, and fixtures supplied by you must arrive complete, undamaged, and with instructions. We may refuse to install items that are unsafe or incompatible. Delays in client-supplied goods can move the completion date without penalty to the studio.
Opening-up may reveal damp, outdated wiring, inadequate falls, rotten timber, or services that cannot support the design. We will pause, explain, and issue a variation describing extra labour, materials, and time. Work on that extra scope starts only after your written approval, except where immediate action is needed to make the area safe, in which case we will notify you as soon as practical.
Programmes are estimates. Weather, supplier lead times, access, and other trades can affect dates. We will update you when a material delay or discovery changes the plan. Time is not of the essence unless a proposal expressly says so and both parties initial that clause.
Monthly plans described on the website cover scheduled inspections, finish care, and the visit types listed in the plan confirmation. They do not include full remodels, structural work, or unlimited call-outs. Unused visits do not always roll over unless the confirmation says they do. Either party may end a care plan by written notice according to the period in the confirmation, or thirty days if none is stated.
Design packages are typically invoiced on instruction. Installation is usually staged: deposit, first-fix, second-fix, and retention released after snagging. Care plans are billed in advance for each period. Late payment may pause work and attract reasonable recovery costs. Title in goods we supply passes on full payment; risk passes on delivery to the property.
Deposits are applied to the project. If you cancel after design work or ordered materials have begun, we may retain amounts that cover work done, restocking, and non-returnable items. Nothing in this section limits rights you may have under mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction.
We will carry out services with reasonable skill and care expected of a professional home improvement studio. At practical completion we will walk the rooms with you and record snags. Cosmetic snags are addressed within a reasonable period. Recurring issues caused by misuse, inadequate ventilation, or lack of the care we recommend are outside warranty.
Aftercare notes for stone, timber, paint, and fixtures form part of the handover. Following those notes is a condition of any workmanship warranty we offer in a proposal. Independent manufacturer warranties on appliances and sanitaryware remain with those makers.
Unless you object in writing before completion, we may photograph finished rooms for our portfolio, website, and social channels, taking care not to show personal documents or identifiable family details. You may request anonymisation of a project story. Drawings we produce may be shown in cropped or diagrammatic form as examples of method.
The Elvire name, logo, website design, text, and original drawings are protected. You receive a licence to use project drawings for constructing the specified rooms at the agreed property only. You may not copy our details for other sites or other contractors without written consent. You must not scrape, republish, or commercially reuse website content.
You must not attempt to disrupt the site, submit unlawful or abusive content in forms, or misrepresent your identity. Forms are provided for genuine home improvement enquiries, newsletter requests, and unsubscribe requests. Automated bulk submission is prohibited.
The website is provided as-is for information. We are not liable for decisions made solely from photographs or sample pages without a confirmed proposal. For contracted works, our liability is limited to the fees paid for the affected stage, except where liability cannot be limited by applicable law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
We are not liable for indirect loss, loss of enjoyment, or delay costs of other contractors you appoint, unless caused by our proven failure to perform with reasonable skill and care. You should keep insurance appropriate to an occupied or unoccupied dwelling undergoing improvement.
Footer and header icons may point to social profiles. Those platforms have their own terms. We are not responsible for content on third-party sites. Sharing buttons and icons are provided for your convenience.
Personal information submitted through forms is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Newsletter subscription and unsubscription are described on those dedicated pages and in the Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms & Services to reflect new services, legal requirements, or studio practice. The date at the top of this page will change. Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms for website use. Existing signed proposals remain governed by the terms in force when they were accepted, unless both parties agree otherwise.
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the studio’s principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules that would choose another system. Courts of competent jurisdiction there shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief elsewhere to protect intellectual property. Nothing here deprives you of mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived.
If a dispute arises, both parties will first attempt good-faith discussion by email. If unresolved, mediation may be proposed before litigation, without prejudice to urgent relief.
Questions about these Terms & Services, a proposal, or a care plan may be sent to hello@elvirevolkdesign.com. Please include the project name or rooms concerned so we can respond with the right file.
